On 13th of Sep., Fintech delegation was invited to the Dept. of Commerce of Jiangsu province, The delegation together with the colleagues from Consulate General of Shanghai was warmly welcomed by directors and several depts heads of Dept. of Commerce. Opportunities was discussed and explored by both parties.
In April this year, there was the Nanjing delegation which was led by Party Secretary, Mdm Han Liming to London where our discussions continued the building of bridges for cooperation between the UK, China and Nanjing. As a comeback visit, on 13th of Sep. the fintech delegation led by Chairman of CUKBDC, John McLean was warmly welcomed by Nanjing Party Secretary, Mdm Han Liming. Besides the Fintech delegation came directly from the UK, colleagues from British Consulate in Shanghai led by Consul-General in Shanghai, Matthew (Matt) Burney also attended the meeting.
Han Liming welcomed John McLean and his delegation and briefly introduced Nanjing's history, culture, technological innovation, and opening-up to the outside world. She said that since the beginning of this year, the business sectors in Nanjing and the UK have continued to strengthen exchanges and frequent mutual visits, with fruitful cooperation results. The organization of British companies to visit and coordinate cooperation in Nanjing by CUKBDC will undoubtedly create more opportunities for win-win cooperation between the two sides. It is hoped that the CUKBDC will give better play to its unique advantages in linking the government, enterprises and industries, promote more British financial and technology enterprises to continuously deepen cooperation with all parties in Nanjing, actively participate in the financial reform, innovation and development of Nanjing, cultivate and expand long-term capital and patient capital, and share opportunities and common development in the construction of Chinese path to modernization. Nanjing will continue to create a market-oriented, rule of law, and international business environment, creating favorable conditions for foreign-funded enterprises to develop in Nanjing.
John McLean expressed his pleasure in visiting Nanjing again. Nanjing's long history and culture, open and inclusive attitude, and rapid development are impressive. The purpose of organizing British financial and technology companies to come to Nanjing this time is to seek and promote more cooperation. The CUKBDC will continue to promote economic and trade cooperation, market development, scientific and technological innovation docking, and cultural exchanges between the UK and Nanjing, serving as a transmitter of China UK friendship and a promoter of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
In the afternoon of 13th of Sep. Nanjing-London Financial Cooperation Innovation Exchange Conference was co-hosted by Nanjing Financial City Council and Nanjing Jiangdong Business Area Management Committee and CUKBDC. The Vice Mayor of Nanjing, Mr. Li Hui, Vice Mayor of Jianye District of Nanjing, Mr. Wuyang and the Chairman of CUKBDC, John, McLean as well as the Chairman of the Nanjing Financial City Council, Mr. Hu Shengrong delivered the opening speeches.
MOU signing was done between Nanjing Financial City Council and CUKBDC as well as between companies in Jianye District and companies that the part of the fintech delegation team represent, Amoo, XOR UK, ODBA. Delegation Representative Ms. Adizah Tejani was also invited to give speech.
There were over 100 ppls attended the events. Besides the CUKBDC delegation, the finance companies and governance bodies of Nanjing was gathered in this event.
After the event, the roundtable meeting was specifically designed between financial companies in Jianye district and the fintech delegation. Face to face talk between two parties was a very good way to understand the specific requirements and expectation. The deadline of end of Sep. has been fixed for both sides.
