Cross-border travel between the mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau fully resumed

The cross-border travel between the mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau fully resumed from 6 February, dropping existing quotas and scrapping a mandatory COVID-19 test that was required before traveling.

John Lee Ka-chiu, Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, launched the “Hello Hong Kong”, a new global promotional campaign to promote the city’s reopening to international travellers.

Hong Kong's import and export trade has declined significantly in the past three years. According to the data of the Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Hong Kong's exports fell by 28.9% year-on-year in December 2022, the largest monthly decline in 68 years.

The reopening is expected to boost Hong Kong trade and economy and to promote the Greater Bay Area Plan in action.
