John McLean OBE, Chairman of China UK Business Development Centre, recently attended the London forum on China’s High-Quality Development and UK-China Economic & Trade Cooperation, bringing together senior representatives from government, business and academia.

The forum featured a keynote speech by Mr Ma Jiantang, Member of the Standing Committee of the 14th CPPCC National Committee and Vice Chairman of its Economic Committee, who outlined priorities linked to China’s upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan, including innovation, domestic demand, industrial upgrading, green growth and continued opening-up.

Remarks were also delivered by Zheng Zeguang, of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United Kingdom; Fang Wenjian, of the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK and Bank of China London Branch; and Peter Burnett, of the China-Britain Business Council.

For many UK organisations, understanding the direction of the 15th Five-Year Plan is increasingly relevant, as it often signals future priorities in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, clean energy, technology and consumer demand.

At China–UK Business Development Centre, we remain committed to helping businesses turn strategic dialogue into practical outcomes through trusted partnerships, market insight and effective cross-border collaboration.
